You lose efficiency with that large air space to warm up, but it would be an improvement, I'm sure. Depending on temps and dew point, you might have condensation issues on the quilt.

You might look on Amazon for the Hyke & Byke Hammock Sleeping Bag. Looks like the same principal of the Pea Pod. My son has one and really likes it.
