The reward for putting in that effort can be well worth it when you start with something that heavy, because the result is so much better. Putting the down into a light weight shell will give you a quilt that's much easier to fit to your hammock. I suggest making the synthetic kit from RBTR first, perhaps with a clew suspension, then evaluate that design, and use the down to create your own masterpiece.
