Do you guys have to keep getting up and stoking the stove throughout the night? Or just fire it back up in the morn'?

The guys I hang with that use them get a fire going before they turn in and fire it back up in the morning, with the occasional stoking when nature calls throughout the night.

I usually load it up as I lay down and it will burn out in a couple hours. The larger stove I made can burn throughout the night with one stoke halfway through. But you can imagine the temp isn’t constant the whole time. it just kind of depends on the type of sleeper are you are, and if you want to mess around during a bathroom break in the middle of the night. It also depends on how cold it is. This week is supposed to be down below zero, so I’m sure I will get it stoked up no matter what time I wake up. That way there are always hot coals for a quick start.

Thank you for the post. Always good to reflect on others experiences, always get new ideas. Love that stove window.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

I have enjoyed watching a couple of your videos. I am from N. MI. You don't need to tell me exactly where you hot tent at, but was curious as to where you go? Just a proximity is good.

Yea with the exception of one video I never really mention it. I know I sound like a selfish jerk but things have just gotten too busy in the past 5 years and that increased exponentially since covid. I typically do Roscommon Or Kalkaska County...bunch of state land to choose from.

I don't think that you are being selfish, as I understand how you want seclusion. Yes those areas can be busy. I am NE of those locations. Probably another 2- 2.5 hour drive for you. Looking forward to your next video.

I load it up and damp it down before turning in. With this size stove, it only lasts 2 hours or so. I always have an appropriate uq and tq for outside Temps.
