North LA: Recommends for good hanging camps

Hey there! First post. I just moved to NE Louisiana and looking for good spots to camp and hang for a 2-night solo. Quick disclosure; I have been to LPP in Ruston, so perhaps something else a little different. Open to other camping options including unimproved and primitive sites. Of course, with the ideal spots I would like to include good wood and water source.

Subbed. Not a lot of people doing this in north LA. I'm trying to get started and finding that my local community might not exist.

If you find some good spots, I'd be interested, too. I've never camped in LA, but it's not much of a drive from South MS.

I did a drive-thru at Chenin-A-Haut outside Bastrop, LA last Monday and just didn't get a good vibe. Going out for a 3-day on Feb. 4-6 and I'm picking between Jimmie Davis SP and Lake Claiborne. Will post a follow up with hopefully some decent pics.
