    Reading the Forested Landscape

I've been watching a lot of forest-related youtube videos lately and came across a series titled 'Reading the Forested Landscape'. It's (imo) really interesting for hammockers and forest hikers.

I did a search on here and couldn't find any results for Tom Wessels. Even though he focusses on New England, I think a lot of the stuff he talks about is transferable to forests everywhere.

I personally have been more obsessed by hammock equipment up to this point, but now that my gear is pretty much settled, I am finding learning about the environments in which we hammock more and more interesting.

If you have some free time have a watch and see what you think.

If anyone has found other videos/books in a similar vein, I'd be really happy to get recommendations!

He has another video that shows how little we really know about the forest. I have to keep playing it over and over again because there is so much information in it that I was unaware of. The YouTube video title is: Tom Wessels The Ecology of Coevolved Species.

Thank you for such a great "find" on YouTube. Started watching last night and I really loved learning more about the forests and trees that I so adore.

Thanks again for sharing this new resource.

This is an amazing find! I have been devouring his videos all day here while working. There is a massive snowstorm happening now where I live and this is a nice way "visit" the forest while I am stuck inside at my computer.

Very nice to get people more to be in tuned with nature!
I personally always first ask the woods if am allowed to sleep here and if so.. to show me a nice spot for the night!
works for me and the adventure is always on point

I watched all 3 (are there more?) video and found them absolutely fascinating!!!

If there are more, I'll watch 'em. This guy is amazing.

I've seen so many of those stone fences and wondered about the how and why, and the use of trees and landscape for dating and identifying past events is just incredible.
