    Hello from Texas!

Hey everyone! My name’s Kyle, I’m 30 and I have zero experience with hammock camping, but would love to learn. This year I’d like to get out on the trails more than last year, which should be easy since I didn’t do much camping at all in 2021. I’m looking forward to learning about hammocks and I’d like to share any trips I go on with all of you!

Welcome to the Forums Kyle! There are a lot of great insights for new hammockers here. Videos, discussions, and other posts to help you on your hammocking journey. I would recommend getting a copy of The Ultimate Hang: An Illustrated Guide to Hammock Camping by Derek Hansen. It can help you make sense of all the lingo. Also, check out videos from Shug and others on basics, seasonal hanging and other topics.

    All the best!

    Welcome to the forums.

Back in the day I used to tent camp in the east Texas “piney woods” as we called it. I remember camping quite a bit around Rusk and further south in the Davy Crockett forest.

    Enjoy your hammock journey.

    Welcome from Arkansas.
Come see our woods sometimes. Northern Texas has some nice places I've enjoyed.

    Enjoy your hang.

    我宁愿在山上。
