    Hello from N. Central Texas

    Hi all

Newbie with hammocks. Enjoying the wealth of information on the forum and the great videos people post. Couple of things I’m sure of for me – no camping in cold weather anymore and I traded the backpack for a car.

Started chasing the “stuff” already. I can see this being crazy / fun chase

Car camping in the cold isn't too bad. Clear nights, no bugs. Good luck chasing the stuff. Lots of great options and vendors here!

Welcome from a fellow newb. I have spent a lot of time digging deep into the various topics, like 110 pages deep. There are many very interesting threads that chart the evolution of gear. Many discussions from some of the cottage makers, a lot from their beginnings. Very interesting stuff.
I have been practicing on a sewing machine, and have made one thing at this point, a mesh gear loft for my ridgeline. I have a quilt kit here, and a couple of used down bags coming from ebay. The latter will get attachment points for "clews" suspension, and the kit will be finished as designed.
If the bags work out, I will be very happy, and have some cold weather gear to get out at the best time of year.
Lots to learn, many brilliant folks have made their way through this site.
