    “I’m gonna die!”

Very entertaining! His hammock would be a few inches off ground at its lowest point. He would take great care to get into his hammock, very slowly, in hopes of not breaking his wispy suspension and hammock.

No telling, how light he could get his total pack weight down to, with all the advancements in lighter materials for hammocks, suspensions, insulation, and packs.

In his younger days he was an infantryman in US army. They did long marches with packs that weighed between 50 and 100 pounds, depending on the mission. He said, now that he had retired from the Army, he wasn’t going to carry a heavy pack.

He weighed all his gear, not in pounds or ounces, but in grams.

I think one of his videos featured a hammock suspension made of Zingit!

    “I’m gonna die!”
Agreed. I always enjoyed his videos and he always that twinkle in his eyes when he would say 'I'm gonna die'.

The last I heard of him it was the CF Ghost Hammock and the discussion about hanging food bags from your suspension in bear country. He was a solid give em a punch in the snoot then eat some oatmeal in front of them.

Sgt. Rock is the fellow who wrote about hammocking in a hurricane- and survived to tell the tale.

Hey we did that too! Didn't know anyone else was foolish enough.

We happened to be on a kayak camping trip in the Florida panhandle when one decided to cross from the Gulf to the Atlantic.
It was a challenging night and one of the early ones for my lady's hammocking experiences. (and sometimes I wonder why she's not as into hammocking as I am. )

It did prove that I hadn't done bad w/ my choice of Amazon tarp. In fact I'm still using it almost two years later.

I think there was a problem with Sarge's youtube channel and they deleted his content by mistake. Too much effort to get it all back up. Shame, it was good stuff. He had a forum at the link SilverSurfer posted called Hiking HQ but it's been down for a while. Good for a laugh. I'm sure he's still haunting the hills. Good guy, would be good to cross trails with him and hang out by the fire.
Crayons - they might look different, but they all taste the same
