    Tensahedron Stand Aussie Edition

    Hello all,

I decided to take my hand to building one of the Tensahedron stands. Everything from this build except for the quick release pins and clips were purchased from Bunnings. I've used dyneema ropes to secure everything. There are four soft shackles at each end. I have four adjustable UCRs. One for the ridgeline, two are connecting the ends of the poles to the anchors and one is connecting the base of the poles together. There is also one fixed ridgeline at the top.

    Poles

Each pole is telescopic and is made of three parts (sections). Two "Connect-it 25.4 x 25.4 x 1.2mm 1.2m Anodised Aluminium Square Tube" and one "Metal Mate 30 x 30 x 1.5mm x 1m Aluminium Square Tube".
Each of the drilled holes have copper grommets made with section cut from this tube . To make them I used this copper pipe flaring tool.
The poles that are on the ground are using these as stoppers.
Each of the 25.4 sections are capped with these.
Each of the three sections are secured with these stainless steel M6x35mm pins and these M1.8x35mm clips. Purchased from aliexpress not bunnings.

I've also created and 3d printed cam locks for each of the sections. They aren't required and they aren't weight bearing. I find them useful for alignment prior to inserting the pins. They also remove some of the wiggle in the telescopic poles. If you would like to 3d print your own here are the 3d files.

    Ground Anchors
The ground anchors are these 32cm screw type.

    Good job!
I did a similar stand but used iron for the struts as I wanted the additional strength. Got these from a specialist, everything else from Bunnings.

    Looks really nice.
1.2m is four feet. How much are your telescoping pieces overlapping, or what is your fully-extended length?

    Hello mmveets,
Correct they are overlapping. Each pole is 290cm or about 9.5ft. After measuring them at 290. I drilled the holes for the pins.

One other thing, I offset the holes on two poles at the base the create one side with a slightly lower angle for the head.

That's a very sharp looking stand!

Thank you greatly; especially for all the links for local Aussie supplies.

How is it holding up? The 25.4 x 25.4 x1.2mm is a bit lighter duty than some suggest

I'd hope I would be OK with that spec. at my 75 kg

This looks very cool, so I started adding all the bits to a Bunnings cart to buy them...it came to about $350!

That's still quite a bit cheaper than an actual Tensa4, and it looks like one of the lightest, most versatile, and all-round best-quality DIY Tensa4s....but I guess it shows why the Tensa4 itself costs what it does.

This is not intended as criticism - the opposite if anything. This is the most pro-level DIY Tensa4 I've seen, and it costs what it costs.
