Harley, Thanks. Are there details of the logistics Ie. put in, any car shifting, getting back to vehicle. Or is it a loop paddle, end up where you put in? Sorry for the 20 questions, Dave

Welcome Canoehang.
I'm not the organizer (that would be Harley), but did attend this event once before several years ago. The put-in is at the state park boat launch. You paddle yourself out to the remote camp site, I'd guess about 1 mile. Some people arraigned a ride with a buddy, but nothing organized. If you have a navigational GPS that would be very helpful as there are a lot of peninsula and bays that look alike. (first time I just looked at the map, made a mental image, and head out across the water. How hard can that be on a flowage? Well, let me tell you, I paddled about 4 or 5 extra miles exploring every little bay and peninsula that fit my memory map. I started late in the day and the sun was very low before I found the camp.) You can explore the lake the next day as I did on my own, or just hang out at the camp. Paddle yourself back when done. Cars stay at the boat ramp parking lot. It's really a nice place. What were your 17 other questions?

Not all who wander are lost.
Thanks Harley & Canoeski, I also go t details via email from Harley. It sounds perfect. I'm going to try to get up here this year. I am also a regular on the Turtle Flowage near Mercer, WI and the surrounding area. I know first hand at how easy it is the get turned around on a flowage - super easy. You gotta stay aware of your surroundings, especially in a new area.

Hi Canoehang - I paddled the wrong way last time. And almost sunk my raft with my gear. And we had to be rescued on the way out. You'll be just fine! And one of us can always paddle out to meet you.
Vicki, Thanks, I should be fine. I'm pretty good with a map & compass to keep the canoe oriented. Not to bad at following land marks.

How much canoe experience do I need for a trip like this? (Will definitely need to refresh my orienteering)
Planning on coming out on Friday. Tumble- could we paddle out together- not using a kayak again. LOL.

You should be fine if you can control your vessel and stay afloat. The paddle in to the sites from the landing is small in my opinion but still about a mile in length.
