Iceman, Ok to enter Dusty Level Road off of River Road. But sometimes road conditions are easier to enter off of 109, onto Correll Road, then Dusty Level Road. If there has been much rain and or Dusty Level Road gets rutted, then that way is easier.

Both always work, especially if you have a good truck.

    Look forward to your stories.

This scouting report shows plenty of trees to hang from

The problem with Yates is not the lack of trees but parking and water.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Since a lot of those that go to the Mt Rogers/ GHSP Hangs and have faced cold creek crossings are on this active thread, I thought what looks like a cool idea posted by the Linville "Gorge Strait Up Crew" with permission.
I realize these might need some protection on the bottom to prevent leaks but looks like a pretty light weight way to keep your feet and legs dry.

    An adventurous mind, might
Remove almost all clothing, put clothing and pack in dry bag. Cross river with dry bag, dry off with a dry t-shirt. Put on dry clothes, and continue on high and dry.

    What could go wrong!
Injure feet on sharp rocks and broken glass.
All clothes and gear float away in dry bag, never to be seen again.
    Slow death by hypothermia, starvation…
And you gonna die from embarrassment when your bros film this and post fun trip report.

    This idea can work
Phantom not responsible for your deficiencies in plans execution
    Be careful out there!

I’ve not crossed river in The Gorge, but I have crossed slow flowing rivers when I was a kid.
    Phantom skeeerd!
