A good guess on water consumption per camper
One Gallon per Day!
After using water to wash hands, rinse cups&utensils, douse fires, and cooking, that leaves a splash of water for “muh coffee”
Bring your own water!
Example: I’ll be there Thursday through Sunday or Monday. That’s 5 gallons just4me
Some nifty rules that are guidelines, not absolute but good ideas for safety and getting along with other hammock creatures!
No bonfires please! Wasting wood can possibly cause us to run out of wood before Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Socialized dogs only on leash. Sometimes a good dog is ok to be off leash when supervised by owner.
Very important to keep dogs on leash during meal time.
There are always exceptions, like older tamer dogs and fur baby lap dogs!
No kids running around fire with burning sticks.
Something my grandkids have been known to do
Please allow others to sleep by turning volume down around campfire after ten pm
At least a bit, and a bit more after midnight.
Unless an Old Pro is telling an animated story
Wood splitters must be sure to follow all safety precautions, and be away from others while chopping and splitting. Watch your backswing!
Be ultra careful handling all firearms. We don’t want anyone accidentally injured passing around a handgun. I’ve had campers tell me, they had misplaced or lost their pistol and could not remember where they had seen it last. Good thing a kid did not find it.
I hope everyone can enjoy their stay at Yates
Make Happy Face
You are Yates
So Yates will be what you make of it
I believe it would be really helpful if suggestions for food were made either here or on the spread sheet.
People will be able to see what is needed if they don't already know what they are planning to bring.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
Slowhike, I don’t know how to enter my information on spreadsheet. Spreadsheet comes up and encourages me to get an app, I install app and then nothing—I can’t enter my information on spreadsheet.
Many thanks to Need2noCallahan, for putting spreadsheet up for us. He didn’t know how dumb I am.
I will bring red slaw, white slaw, and assorted (sordid) desserts.
Hot chocolate in mornings for kids and chocolate fiends
Arrive Thursday depart Sunday or Monday
Will try again in a few minutes, maybe I have to bring that installed app up and then try to write on spreadsheet.
I do not see a whole lot of hammock campers saying what they intend to bring to our Saturday noon group meal.
I don’t see it on spreadsheet, and little if any on our thread.
Tazmaniac has stepped up big time.
There is a need for others to post what they plan on bringing and cooking for our group meal.
But then again, sometimes a potluck meal is full of surprise dishes and/or failure to engage.
I still remain optimistic, that no one will actually starve to death Saturday afternoon!
And if any hammock campers just can’t make up their mind about what to cook…
If you would be so kind as to bring me a medium rare Wagyu Kobe ribeye steak smothered in cream bolognese topped with wilted truffles and a light French seasoning…
I'm planning on being in camp Thurs afternoon but will have to head back to the house Saturday morning. No potluck for me
This disorganization rests squarely on my shoulders
They say severe hunger pangs will make us all smarter and much more able to navigate our world…
In the next life…
Things will sort themselves out
If worse comes to worse and the next world wide famine commences Saturday around lunch time…
We can always order out pizza…
I wonder if they deliver to Yates direct to my hammock
Brother Grappler, it's not as bad as it seems.
We've been doing potluck type meals for years at the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival and believe me, no one has gone hungry.
A lot of people don't know what they might bring or what is still needed to fill in the gaps.
A lot of food shows up unannounced.
I know that not seeing much commitment on the sign-up page can be a little concerning, but the group always comes through, big time!
Matter of fact, every time, there is more food than can be eaten. There are leftovers on Sunday... lots.
One thing that may help is suggestions being made on what could be brought to round things out.
More sides, breads, drinks, deserts, plates, bowls, plastic ware, etc.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
