    NC Yates Hang Spring 2022 March 10 11 12 13

    From post # 1
“I currently have no plans for a group meal”

I’ve heard from some of our Old Pros, their ideas of various food choices for a pot luck style of meal for either Saturday lunch or supper.

Nothing is carved in stone, and since You Are Yates, any of us is free to chat here or amongst yourselves, about your preferences for this Spring 2022 Yates.

Some might band together in small groups and cook just for their group or join with all of us. Everyone has different tastes in food.

I think there is more camaraderie and a sense of belonging, by getting together with friends to all contribute to good food by: your suggestions, bringing various ingredients, cooking, post meal clean up—or at least contributing your cash to the cooks and purchasers of food.

I am going to be here, but I encourage you to chat with your fellow campers to start the fun.

Need2noCallahan and Peeeeetey have excellent ideas. Please join in chat Old Pros, and Noobs alike.

Hard to imagine, all of our Old Pros, were once Noobies, time flys, and Time Change Weekend will be here in blink of an eye.

Potluck group meals have always worked well at the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival.
There is great variety of great food to choose from and aways more than enough.

A lot of people bring something to share and there are those that set up to cook on a larger scale.
I think some who don't bring/ cook anything themselves will, like you said, pitch in some cash for those that put a lot into it.

At Grayson we mainly do a big group supper (as well as Sun breakfast) but there will often times be some who cook to share at other times, like I have seen at Yates. No guarantees on that though.

I guess deciding whether to do lunch or supper (or both) would be something to talk about.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I posted earlier that I'll be a cash contributor and probably bring some varieties of snack /dessert items.
My kids often mooch off the community table anyways and my skills at camp cooking are what I call survival level.
I'll joyfully help with cleanup chores as needed.
A day camping in the rain is better than a good day at work,

I could bring my smoker and generator and smoke some butts or whole chickens. I will not supply any meat for people to " "munch" off of me. David you have been to kind over the years. Just let me know what you all think.

I don’t have it nailed down yet but I’m working on a guy bringing a LARGE smoker ( think 60 butts at one time).
He makes a mean smoked Mac-n-cheese. We were thinking of a variety of items that could be smoked. Butts, double smoked ham, chickens, and?
