If it was not hammock related, it goes to the contributing members area. It is a forum rule.
I kinda wish the forum charged a dollar for EVERYONE per year, and gave everyone access to all areas. Opposed to $10 for the year for a few to see. This would never happen and the dialogue would expand exponentially.
Hammock-related discussions are free. What was the reason for creating the donating members forums?
Operating the forum costs money and requires some sort of revenue stream to keep it going, so participation in non-hammock discussions — which many people find valuable — is available for a very modest cost of $10 per year.
Many hammock-related discussions stray into other areas and are also moved to donating member sub forums.

The hammock related posts stay in the "free" area for all to view. Anything not required to set up/maintain a hammock (think backpacking, cooking gear, knives electronic gear..etc) are moved to donating member area.
Just to be clear, the owner (yes there is an owner) foots all the costs of this forum (software, upgrades, server, bandwidth) and the donating members help him do that by providing an income of 10.00 per year.
So while the owner, Admins, moderators, do our best to make this a welcoming place with rules that make sense, when it comes right down to it... the rules are the rules and we do our best to fairly enforce them across non DM and DM folks.
