I will go to Peck Ranch on Thursday to cut some firewood at the Pine Loop and at our camp site on Stegall. I spoke to the rangers and they are fine with it as I have Sawyer credentials from USFS. I will also haul up some water to the mountain to reduce pack weight. Packs are heavy already with extra winter hammock gear. I will have to leave early Sunday to be home for Sunday services. Looking forward to a great hang on the mountain and in the CG.

I’ve not missed one yet, but this will be the year I do. I have a retirement party to attend for my dad and it’s the 8th. Sounds like you all will have a great time. Be safe, and looking forward to reading a trip report.

And thanks -20 for the heads up!

Will miss seeing you again but your dad is priority. Have a good party and see you next year.

So glad you can come. I look forward to seeing your Dream hammock as they are so highly regarded.

I won't be able to make it on Friday, and Saturday is a remote possibility. I sure wish I could. I've never been to that area, and would like to see it. You kids have fun! :-)

I hope you are able to come Saturday. The hike from the fire tower to Saturday’s camp site is less than 1 mile and an old road (clear without lay downs). There is one Y going east where you stay to the right. The road to the tower is about 1.5 miles NW of the OT trailhead on CR 159. When you see the steel swing gate on the access road there is parking on the left and the access road is just inside the gate, perhaps 30 yards, on the right side. The road to the tower is slightly less than two miles. Rain is likely Saturday so we may be leaving the CG around mid morning to noon to hike up to Stegall. If I can help in any way just let me know. I am driving up to Peck this morning to begin preparations including firewood. I will have some water at the Stegall site.

Don’t worry, I’m bringing wet wipes too, cuz these are sticky and delicious.
