Black Rock Mountain State Park, GA

Here are some photos from a recent trip to Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia. The leaves, while past peak, were still spectacular

I was in one of their tent walk-in sites (about 30 second walk from car, heh) which I've used before for tent camping but my first time with a hammock. Hang options were limited but offered beautiful views. Night one got down to ~40F with gentle breezes but night two was a bit more windy with temps to 30F. My hammock was unfortunately placed in the direction of the wind

My next upgrade is a 12' winter haven, order recently placed.

Love those colors, even if they were past peak.

Awesome! We have camped there, but that was pre-hammock days. We need to revisit. Thankfully, we have some hammock stands which make it a little easier.

Did you get to do any hiking? The TN Rock Trail has beautiful views. The Edmonds Trail has no good views and kicked our tails. Haha!

No hiking this time (I left my hiking boots on my porch as I was rushing out the door ) & only had my Crocs. I haven't done the Edmonds trail before but have done TN Rock in the past. The parking lot for the TN Rock trail was so packed, I imagine the overlook on that trail was equally crowded. My last trip to the park was in June, tue-thur and I practically had the trails and overlooks to myself, it was some awesome solitude — mid-week is the way to do it if possible

Midweek is definitely the best time to hike there - especially in the fall. It is a popular location with leaf peepers. For good reason.

Can anyone tell me how far the Fern Cove campsite is from parking? How far is water? Any good hanging trees? I recently had shoulder surgery so I won't be hiking but I do want to hang out there. I have reservations in a couple of weeks.
    Thanks

Mother Nature sure does know how to sparkle. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I guess the bright side of forgetting your hiking boots is more time to nap, right?
