Seams like I remember seeing these pictures of you guys.
And I do remember you being a regular poster on HF.

Is that Grant standing there in short sleeves?
They used to have the person with the most posts on the home page and I was top poster for some time.
    But Grant/ Cannibal surpassed me.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Wow, I never thought I would leave an impression on someone I consider a "Who said of the Greatest Magnitude" when it came to Hammocks, our forum, and our hobby.
I have been hammock camping since the 1970's but basically on my own.
    162993_143914212332835_4812796_n.jpg

Then I made friends with returning Vietnam Vets, Oh forgot to mention I grew up in Huntsville Alabama, and Redstone Arsenal where many returning vets came to debrief.
This hippy from the early 70's had nothing but respect and admiration for these returning soldiers.

    They taught me so much.

I hope I have not derailed your thread. I'm done. Thank you for remembering me.

I've not been very active hear in recent years. Good to hear from you.
Are you still active with JRB?
DGrav IS JRB, since the original Jacks retired.

Thanks for sharing those photos! The hammock on that second photo looks like the mesh from a bag of oranges. I can't tell but is the hammock in the first photo similar?

    I wish we could.

Anyone here that was active in the first 5 years or so?
Hey Slowhike: When looking at my old posts, I can only go back about to 2012 or 13. But when I look at my started threads, I can go back to 2/3/07. Which might be my first thread started after I joined in Jan 07. If not my first, probably very close. I see you, Just Jeff, Coffee(previously known as HammockEngineer), BlackBishop351, Headchange4u, and a few other of us old timers responded in that thread.

This is funny: from May of 08, I see a thread I started asking: "Claytor NN stock suspension safe or not". I am still using that same hammock and suspension, though not very often these days. It was my go to hammock for many years, my #1 among my gathered ends. Partly because it worked better with my Speer Pea Pod than any other hammock. In that thread, I said I had changed mine, if mem serves to add a cinch buckle and 1" webbing, but I must have stuck with or added it right back on one end, because that is what I have used all these years on that Claytor No Net: cinch buckle/Harbor Freight 1" webbing on head end, original Claytor (1/2"?) webbing on the other. Used with the Claytor knot, i.e. a slippery 1/2 hitch which has never failed, and neither has the webbing with my 205 lbs(sometimes 226)

Ha Ha you are close. A 5 dollar fishnet hammock could be bought everywhere, a camping insolite closed cell foam pad was 10 buck an a blue 10x10tarp was about 9 bucks. That is where I started. Way before Hennessy ever thought about adding a bug net to a basic gathered end hammock. Why in the hell he ever thought a bottom entry was a good thing is beyond me. I never bought one. When Hennessy was thinking about making a budget hammock I was an aerospace engineer thinking about Mars.
