Ok that makes sense. I’m definitely going to have to try this. Thanks!

I’ve crudely drawn in what the leaves obscured…my Amsteel line V’ing between the two legs, anchored with an orange screw beneath the apex.

Some of my more recent "One Tree" hangs.
This one is from my mom's first ever hammock nights at Hang Con in Florida. It was nice to be able to pick a site that had one good tree spread and I could just locate close w/o having to find perfect trees for both of us.

And this is from our recent vending trip to SoCal.
After driving all day, around midnight, we pulled off on a dirt track about an hour from our destination to camp. Using the vending cart as our "tree" we got to watch sunrise from our hammocks in a treeless section of desert.

And then a backyard hang where it was so windy that we didn't want to risk the tarps and I only used the bugnet to cut down the wind, not for bugs.
The next day it was less and we got to use the tarps for wind and sun block.

Great pictures LowTech! Those desert sunrises are some of my favorite experiences. Nothing else like it.

As a scout I did this once too, but we made tripods. the pioneering logs at the campsite were weak though, one broke in half on me during testing. I was like 40kg back then..
Other kids didnt make their tripod correctly, theirs crashed down the first night. My brother and a friend of his had both the same hammock, their hammock ripped in half on the 4th night.. brand new stuff.
See the attached file to see how my tripod looked. The beam that is in front of my hammock is mirrored by another beam exactly opposite of it.hangmat brexbachtal.png

    Here's one I missed.
This is what a couple "One Tree" hangs look like when you're partner forgets that they pulled their hammock out of their gear to wash it and then never did.
She didn't remember until she had the tree straps up. So she got to sleep in the car.KIMG0433.jpg

One night of pain, a lifetime of remembering. I hope YOU aren't suffering too much because of it.

Niice kayaks. I bet they are saying, “Desert! We don’t need no stinking desert.”

Bar bet trivia win: “Badges. We don’t need no stinking badges.” is a parody of the actual lines The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (circa 1948).
Instead of the Sierra Madre movie, it’s from Blazing Saddles.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I'm not suffering at all, and I sure didn't that night.
It might be the desert but we were camped an the edge of a canyon lake that we paddled for two days.

I am selling the WS Cape Lookout (blue one) since I picked up the Necky Manitou 14 and she's taken over the WS Tsunami 14 that I had originally gotten for myself. The Manitou fits me better and feels way less barge like.
I definitely like those smooth roundish bottoms.
