    "One Tree" hangs

How about a picture thread on "one tree" hangs. The ones that require a stand of some kind as the support on the other end.
I'm sure there are a variety of ways that this gets done. In fact I've been "One Treeing" it for most of this month. At one point we had some friends of ours come out for a few nights and there were four such setups on the property where we're staying.

I'm definitely starting to prefer this method as it lets me position the tarp and hammock exactly the direction I want w/o having to find two perfectly spaced & placed trees. Not the easiest thing to even find two trees spaced a good distance apart w/o a mass of smaller growth all crammed in between here in the SW.

    So let's see um.
Here's my setup from the night we rolled into SoCal on our vending trip. Got in late, pitched this quick and slept happy.
As you can see I need a shorter tarp for this setup.

I'm sure we can all relate to this simple prayer, "Oh Lord, please help me remember not to drive off without first detaching ...

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

A few days later I picked up my "Solo". I'd had it shipped ahead of us.
That weekend we camped up in a little cluster of Tamarisk and ran the trailer in and out of town for vending both days. This was the first time using it and I was hooked.
There would have been no way to hang in that mess w/o being able to just use one tree.

That depends on which photo you're looking at. I have, and still do use a few different ones.
I have a Tensa Solo that I use when kayaking, bikepacking, and plane traveling.
I also have 4 sections of military camo net spreader poles which I think are the same as what some call antenna mast sections. Two sections make a good height.
I've also used wooden closet rods and once an off-cut juniper branch that was in a tree trimmings pile.

My fav is the spreader pole sections as they pack down pretty well, though not small like the Solo, and allow me to get a couple/few feet more in height at that end. The Solo, at the angle I set it at has me pretty close to the ground.

This is from a 5 night event that I just returned from where I did "one tree" hangs off the back of a box truck. Here I'm using the spreader poles, 2 sections for each hammock.

that's a nice one. How much did you pay for it?

And this was my buddy and his lady using the welded loops on our vending trailer for the "tree" side.

Of course this version is NOT for backpacking.

We did use one of the few trees.

Do you ever have any trouble with the single pole sliding forward. Seems like it wants some kind of “stop” on the hammock side of the pole. I’m sure natural ground would be fine but I was recently at a popular park and the site ground was so compacted it felt like asphalt/concrete. In that case, the pole might have more a tendency to skid rather than dig in. LowTech’s photo above shows it pretty vertical but there’s quite an angle in the first photo of this thread.

I have dug a little bit of a hole in situations like that. Just enough that the end of the pole is below grade. The other option I use is to straighten up the pole more if I think it might slip.
Even the Solo is at more of an angle than it looks like in that photo and so far the foot on it has worked great.
