Hammock Camping Trail Badge

Looks like there are about 157 posts on the subject and most of those that I read are suggestions about the requirements. So the question remains. Is this “patch” a real thing? If so, is there a source I could contact to discuss a small order? Or is it something only available to a scout who satisfies what ever criteria was settled on?

WLMILLER54 was the original poster on this topic. He might know more details. Looks like he had a ton of them made. My records show he has not posted since 09-09-2019 so I don't know if he is still around.

It's been more than 20 years since I was a Boy Scout, but I don't recall custom merit badges being an option (they may have been and I just wasn't aware). My understanding of the BSA hammock camping merit badge was that it was an unofficial thing. I believe a group got together and had patches in the shape and style of a BSA merit badge made, but they would not have been officially recognized by BSA.

Trail Life does accept custom merit badges if they have been approved by the troop committee. So the Hammock Camping badge presented here is actually being awarded and officially recognized as an outdoor skills elective trail badge for members of our local troop.
