    SMC descender rings - availability?

Ive searched the SMC website but could not find the rings... I see they are still available at retailers, but has SMC discontinued them?

As a climbing gear retailer, I get several calls a month looking for the rings, and naturally I ask if they are for a hammock. To date, everyone has answered YES! If they are available, Id like to try to get them in store...

They are still listed in the SMC store. They seem to be grouped with the carabiners.

SlingRings are a popular alternative, although I don't think they are climbing rated.

I carry some light weight Anodized Aluminum rings as well that are tested to 250 pounds each and are max tested out to 1000 pounds. Just got some new colors in stock as well.

I've heard from several people that the Sling Rings are rated to 250 lbs. and unofficially tested to 2500 lbs., so they "should" "probably" work fine.
Just be sure to test your rig before heading out to the woods!

Edit: My 2500 lbs. might be a mis-remember. pgibsons product are probably what I'm thinking of.

I have a couple sets of Pauls. They are very nice!

I bought mine from Summit Hut.

EDIT: But that was before I was aware of AHE. Nowadays I'd give the stuff Paul is selling a shot!

For some odd reason, SMC has always listed the descending rings in an odd place on their web pages.

For example, as the link that angrysparrow provided, they list them with "carabiners". I suppose the rings are kind of an odd thing that don't really fit handily in their other categories and don't really deserve a category of their own. But then they also have their "rigging rings" and place them in a category that makes them easy to find.

I have always had to resort to Google to find them on the SMC site.
