We made it back alive! I'll do a trip report, I just hate the effort of linking the images. Google Drive makes it really tough. Dropbox is getting full. I really don't want to start another host.
Before I forget I have to start with this: after driving almost 10 hours, I get out and start changing into my hiking clothes. I grabbed my hiking shoes I was so worried about in the first place, only to realize I packed TWO RIGHT FOOT shoes of a similar brand. IDIOT!!!
Luckily my "street shoes" I wore for the drive were some New Balance trail hiking shoes. Not the best, basic $50 shoes. But I gotta say, they were absolutely phenomenal!!! Over all that crazy terrain and "boulders for a trail" I didn't have the slightest ache, hotspot or anything the entire time.
Thanks again to everyone that gave me some pointers. Just a perfect trip!
I did that same thing (sort of) on a business trip back in the mid-'80's. The company I worked for signed a distribution agreement with a large capacitor manufacturer & it was a BIG deal at the time. I was the Dallas branch capacitor product manager & drove the largest sales $'s for capacitors out of all our branches nationwide, so I was invited to attend the kick-off & training at their corporate HQ in SC. On the first day, the morning session was to be spent with both company's executives & I wanted to look sharp. In getting ready that morning, I discovered I brought a left & right shoe but one was a brown slip-on & the other one was a black lace-up style. Of course, everyone noticed & we all had a good laugh and I was forever more known as 'Two Shoes'.
Glad you guys had good trip & looking forward to your trip report.
