I camp down there a bunch. Bring a tensa4 or solo poles first off. Since Irma came through there are many dead trees. Most are strong enough but I wouldn’t chance it. Also, be prepared for bugs. Jan feb is probably the best time to go for bugs, but you will get into them. Unless it’s real chilly. Porpoise, sharks, coons, and killer fishin down there. It’s a magical place, but you’ll work for it. Good luck on your trip.

The Paddling book I mentioned in your other thread has lots of info about campsites/islands. Some the the islands are all mangrove and others have great beaches. Hanging is possible, but have a plan to go to ground. And definitely bring a bug net. Also pay close attention to the tide chart for Everglades City, going against the tide is very hard work.
