Tensa 4 Hammock Stand

While new and still tweaking my Tesa set-up, I've been putting my camp chair a tad past the "taco tip zone" which helps keep me on the safe side when getting up in the middle of the night or morning. So far so good, no tippy taco's yet..............

Well, that sound's like a good idea! Or anything to keep you on the safe side. I could lay a pack on the wrong side of the width limiter, it should serve as a good reminder to not sit down on that side.

But my counter weights have done a good job of slowing things down enough for me to correct the error quickly enough once the mouse trap begins.

I was really attached to the idea of shipping Tensa4 without a head anchor. I was wrong. I now understand the error in my thinking that many people would want to look that cool doing something so metal, so minimalist that there's some risk of clownish outcome. Very few people are like that. My people.

I like my campsite to harmonize with the woods. Even though as a general rule, I DON’T like camo, when it comes to my hammock gear it has become my favorite “color” over the years! When I’m overnighting on a hike, I prefer not to advertise my campsite. When others pass down the trail never noticing my setup, I’m very pleased. It simply feels safer. That has always been my mindset when I’m alone, on foot, far from my vehicle. This past year I’ve fallen into primarily CAR camping and I prefer to hang from my TENSA stand even when trees abound. Yet, old notions die hard…. Even when car camping out in the “open”, I still like my campsite to coordinate with nature. That’s what looks inviting and relaxing to me.

I LOVE the convenience of my TENSA stand…being able to set up anywhere, facing any way. And I love the no fiddle factor. Now that the ridgeline and baselines are set on my TENSA, there’s no adjusting this or that to get my hammock just like I like it. But, when I look back at my campsite from the other side of the lake, I don’t like seeing the gleam of the metal frame. (I know! I know! THAT’S what makes it look so awesomely cool and futuristic! But I’m not cool or futuristic and I like things to look like sticks and dirt!) So, last week I ordered 2 yards of camo Hexon from Dutch and whipped up four skins for my TENSA legs. This evening I tried them out in the park. I’m quite pleased with them! Is it silly putting skins on my TENSA? Probably so…but it sure does make me smile!
