    Big & Tall dudes

If you are 6'5 350-400lbs what suspension & gadgets can you count on? Setting up my big little brother with his first kit.
    :-)
    Thx!

You are a good candidate for a 12x6 hammock

    I’m 5’8” short and 175 pounds, and I enjoy a 12x6 hammock

Any amsteel you use, might benefit being 1/8 amsteel. I use 1/8 for all amsteel needs, including hammock ridgeline. Imagine losing balance on hillside after getting out of hammock in dark.
I just grab 1/8 amsteel hammock ridgeline.
For me this is overkill, and for you, it could be being safe

Maybe go on dutchwaregear.com and shop their straps and buckles
Dutch has some straps that are rated quite high for all your needs. If hang angle is off a bit, the extra strength afforded by higher weight rated straps is good for a margin of safety
Or use straps and whoopie slings in 1/8 amsteel
If you use marlin spike hitch, probably best to use strong crushproof toggles

Whoopie slings made with 1/8 amsteel need to have a longer bury than is used for 7/64 amsteel
You can make your own or buy them. If you buy them, specify longer length buries
You might need to do further research to find length needed to prevent slipping

Good luck, fun to get out in boonies and enjoy the wilderness

Monkey Toes, welcome to the forum. Take a look at the BIAS Camper XL in Double Layer (DL). It’s rated at 450 lbs (300 + 150). "Double Layer Mod - This is a second, sewn bit of fabric that creates a reinforced layer with an opening for inserting pads for warmth. Double layers also reinforce the hammock and give it 150 lbs.”

If you are interested, send me a PM.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

    Thx!

    PhantomGrapler said it all.
3mm or 1/8" dyneema is the way to go.

Im 5'8" and USED to weigh 308lbs and ALWAYS use 3mm dyneema for hammock suspension.

I lost a bit of weight, down to 209lbs but this dam covid lockdown got me back to 231lbs.

The suspension devices will be your problem-most will be rated way lower than 3mm dyneema

I'm not a big guy, but I ran into this website a while back.
    thisgearisforyou.com

He has a "Big Boy Bridge" hammock.

I think it's run by someone on this forum, I forget who. You might learn something from perusing the site, and emailing that guy.

    You're welcome!
Now that I'm at a computer instead of on my phone... here we go. It's "Just Bill". Here's an old post from him about his Big Boy Bridge:
