    Deciding on top quilt

I'm trying to make a final decision on a topquilt. I've been using sleeping bags in my hammock for a while now, and Christmas is coming, so it's time for the next purchase!

I was almost completely set on the Hammock Gear 20deg Economy Burrow with sewn footbox, but now I'm seriously considering the JRB Hudson River. I have a Yeti UQ, so I don't necessarily need another one, but my wife comes out with me sometimes, so having a warmer full-length UQ option for her would be a benefit. Is the Hudson River wide enough? I'm not that big of a guy (5'11", ~170lb), so it seems like it would be okay. Is the regular length sufficient for my height? Is there anything else I should be concerned about or consider?

I have the HG Econ TQ in the 40 degree model. I’m 6’2” and the regular length fits me fine (although I’d go with the long model if I was any taller or if I wanted the ability to pull the quilt over my head).

I have a regular size 20 deg. premium Burrow & love it. It'll have plenty of room for your height, no problem.

Ive tried a few from most of the big makers. So far my favorite is the Warbonnet Diamondback, love that thing!

Anxiously awaiting a 0F Loco Libre TQ with the chevron baffles for winter camping.

"I have a Yeti UQ, so I don't necessarily need another one, but my wife comes out with me sometimes, so having a warmer full-length UQ option for her would be a benefit.". Are you wanting a TQ or an UQ? Either way, I love the JRBs, but I don't think I would choose the Hudson River as an UQ, since it has no dif cut. Which can make it trickier to adjust right, since if you snug it up too much it will flatten the loft. I suppose you are looking for a quilt that could serve double duty, as a TQ or UQ? True, a JRB TQ with the capability to open flat will be able to do that. But just be aware that you must avoid not just having it too loose causing gaps, but must also avoid pulling it too tight because it is not differentially cut. Just think how much advice around here, for people who are cold in their UQs, is "adjust it tighter, so that it lifts your empty hammock a foot or so". I don't think that approach will work with any TQ (used as an UQ). A quilt without a dif cut must be adjusted just right, so that it just touches an occupied hammock. Any looser and you get gaps and drafts, much tighter and you flatten too much loft.

I've been looking around on length with the HG Econ TQ as I'm 6'1" and am running close to the length of the regular size. not too concerned about pulling my head myself. All the comments on this post have helped me make a decision for my own TQ purchase.

My neighbor is looking for a top quilt as well. We're installing the suspension and winch from 4Wheelonline onto his truck when he mentioned he and his son are getting into hammocking. He saw the Hudson river quilt on sale. Good to hear it is recommended here.
