So, this is kind of a piggyback on the Shell Fabric thread that mostly got derailed by degree symbols, but was curious about some comments I've seen in several threads regarding fill options, ie 800 vs 900 etc... Usually the comment will appear that fabric choice will have a greater effect on quilt compressibility than going from 800 to 900, ie using 10D vs 20D.
Question is, how much difference does it really make? I'm not sure there is a way to really measure it unless some had identical quilts with differing fabric, but is there a noticeable compressibility difference between 20d/10d assuming all other specs are the same? I'm not one that uses a compression sack to squeeze the crap out of a quilt or bag, but do typically place them in either an oversized dry bag or nyfume/compactor bag type liner sack at the bottom of a pack and then just pack everything else down on top of them, only compressing as much as need to fit everything else.
