I would like to attend another hang there. My first group hang was there about 10 years ago.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

looks like the campsite I stayed at last time is now a picnic area. At least the group site is still there.

Seems like these days a lot of us have Tensa4 and/or Tensa Solo type stands, whether from Tensa or home made. That might help make up for some of the lack of trees.

There was not alot of trees before hand for hanging on the River Side. I think my site could handle four, and the two next to me could handle maybe three max. Alot of stands were used. I think the group site could handle the most.

I checked the camp ground "rules" (might be suggested). Each group site is limited to 8 folks, which should not be a problem. The areas are about that size without really crowding folks, plus needing area for cooking, etc. etc., etc. E-3 would work for a "central" area as it has plenty of open room.
Group sites are $100 per night, I think. Need to re-check that. Might be able to talk a discount if we rent several.

Talked with Heather (manager) at Hot Springs camp ground today. We have a go to use the trees across from sites E-1 thru E-4 for hammocks, after we have exhausted all space in the group sites. Told her we would probably shoot for a mid-April weekend and we could have from 20 to 30 folks. Group sites are limited to 10 folks. I suggest if you have a hammock stand you should plan to bring it.

So this closes out this thread until we get to the spring. Hopefully, we shall survive the winter!!!!!!!!!!

Just remember Spring hang in HS will be covered with through-hikers from the AT. Space will be at a premium and booked well in advance. I was there in March-April. This is a re-supply town for hikers.

Thanks. I stayed there on my spring hike in 2007. However, the cost of the group sites might be prohibitive for a thru hiker. I think those that were there stayed in the primitive sites nearer the railroad, away from the river.
