    After 7 years ...

After 7 years with the blackbird Double layer I am finally trying the blackbird single layer with dreamtex. Initially had doubts because people keep claiming that the stretch is usually greater and therefore less comfortable.
Finally purchased a second hammock in single layer, I am interested in a top cover anyway and on the older hammock this was not possible. The blackbird hammocks made before 2017 have custom made topcover. An extra reason to buy, let's say
Also, for a long time I have been trying to reduce the base weight of my backpack and finally there was no alternative or investing seriously. Last weekend I had a first test. I must say that my sleep was remarkably comfortable. Perhaps even better, the dreamtex feels more pleasant than the old 1.7 fabric. Especially less "chilly", I also seem to have more contact with the wooki, nice and warm.

whoopie, I see there is a top cover for the Blackbird XLC but I didn't see one for the original (standard) Blackbird. Do you have the XLC or is there a source for a standard Blackbird top cover?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I had a double 1.1 for a long time. Nothing wrong with it, but decided to get a single 1.6 since I never needed to double layer for a pad like I originally planned almost 10 years ago. And to save a bit of weight/bulk.

I tried the 1.7 in a Traveler, but I did not like that material at all.

I have an Eldorado in the 40d Dream-Tex, and it is super comfy. I agree with you about the better contact with the Wooki too. I have used my Wooki with other hammocks, but it just isn't the same kind of 'warmness' like it is with the Eldorado.
