There is a reason you have to add a metal plate to your ballistic vest for knife protection - kevlar alone will not stop knife penetration. No fabric type material I'm aware of will. That said, even assuming the author is really looking for more durable fabric that is less prone to ripping\tearing on sharp objects (metal clips on pocket knives maybe?) - I'd think looking for material with more rip stop ability MIGHT be a better question, although I think it would be a case of diminishing returns with regards to actual benefit vs comfort/stretch/ect..

Why don't you string a high line about 50 feet up and hang off that?

Sean McC - The forest "service", with their great plan this summer of charging people a "penalty fee" for using the trails that had been free to hike, did a great job of keeping people out of the forest this summer. As predicted, those with money didn't care if they used their reservations or not. So they could buy up all the weekends at the start of the program. As it turned out - more than 40% of the reservations were not used. Of course the Forest Service's stated problem - too much human poo left around the trails - was not all addressed by requiring a fee. Without education, just requiring someone to pay $6.00 isn't going to change their behavior. In fact, after having to pay money, they probably feel entitled (i.e. more entitled) and not required to bury their deposits. Someday I'll tell you how I really feel about that misguided program.

karenmane - Just a thought ... what about emptying your pockets before getting in the hammock?

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I am with you on the BS of reservation camping.

Though my experience below Wickup has not been good. This is pre Covid though I doubt it has changed.

We've had a few strange First Posts lately. Maybe they are just pranks. Note that karenmane hasn't replied at all. I understand having fun. And I'm going to assume the questions are sincere. But if a person's idea of humor is to ask an insincere question, in the guise of asking for help, just to see what comes back, they might reflect on that. When I was very young - oh so long ago - my sister and I found a radio that covered the AM stations and also a band that had police broadcasts. We'd listen with rapt attention as the calls came in - so entertaining. But when it was quiet for a while, we found ourselves wishing someone would commit a crime. And we stopped and thought about that. And decided that listening to police dispatches, and what they implied, wasn't something to celebrate. But at first, yes, it seemed fun. Just Say'n.

    suggestions for hammock

Maybe moderators can delete their entire post as well as any replies
Or maybe there is a way to flag the post as an advertisement-spam or entertainment-troll

I just read and replied to a post about Quick Book Error Codes or some such
    Another odd first post
    Possibly, it was computer generated

Edit: maybe our poster thought they were on another forum and posted here inadvertently.
    Could be just a mistake

A good idea to Not Click Here on any of their Links, because of increased odds of getting malware, or spyware into our phones or computers
