Went on this trip about a month ago, but got busy and delayed my lists. Son had blast. We hooked are tarps to each other’s suspension and had a cool little camp, I was worried rain might pool and drip down the middle, but it never did, though it only sprinkled lightly several times.
Also, I had a nerdy science teacher with me. Turns out the reason that area is one of the two highest forested plateaus is because of some make up in the mountain or magnetic anomaly; gravity is stronger there than it should be at that elevation, makes the air thicker, vegetation is able to survive. Anyway, fun fact, makes me wonder if it would also reduce elevation sickness (though we were only at 11k feet .
