That deer sure looks close! Did you even zoom in at all?

NW Boricua, I know, "It doesn't count.", because I mostly use a kayak; but I've converted over the Garcia Bear Canister. There were just too many times spending excessive minutes to rig a haul up a tree, only to put things away and find one-more-thing (like toothpaste) that need to be stored. The barrel fits nicely inside the bow of the kayak - in its own dry bag because it is not waterproof - and can hold meals for four or five days easily. I store the canister away from camp (as I would if I hung the food) and have a plastic garbage bag as a cover in case it rains. During mealtime, the canister provides just enough height/surface area to work as a camp stool.
15ft tree straps?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
Did you intend your comment at slugbait? 'Cause I replied to them and said we always carry a bear canister, for all the reasons you mentioned. We've never even owned a food bag...
And yes, 15 ft tree straps. In my humble opinion, the only way to go in the Pacific Northwest. Some of these trees are BIG.
