Looking for vendors that sell 7/64 hammock ridgeline fixed length.

I know Dutch does .....any others.

I'm switching out all my zing it ridgeline in favor of the heavier 7/64. I have new back issues and the plan is to attach a loop to the 7/64 ridgeline with a prusik and a t-handle on the other end which will help me sit up and pivot out the side.

The last Dream Hammock I purchased a few years back had switched to Amsteel for their SRLs.

I'll wager that any of our cottage vendors will be glad to build to suit. I know the Smurfs would be glad to place a hand loop practically anywhere it's structurally possible.

It would be a pretty simple splicing job. You might want to give it a try. Plenty of info on splicing available on the forum. If not, another possibility might be Anne Marie of Autumn Ultra Light. Rolloff pointed out DH and seeing as how the Smurfs built your hammock, they might be the best bet!

It's a good idea. You could also use a loop of soft 1" webbing instead of a T-handle. Why not put a whoopie at one end of the ridgeline? Small adjustments in length can make a noticeable difference in the way your back feels in the morning.

    This is a valid idea.

I use a similar concept in my canoes. I have 1" webbing attached to thwarts with a sewn in large hand loop. Comes in real handy getting vertical after spending significant time seated. I find myself probably not putting more than a few ponds of pulling pressure, its more of a steading process. Third leg on a stool thing.

And yes, I can hear all you young folks snickering and rolling your eyes. Getting older requires adapting, to continue the activities you love. Bad backs are no joke. Take care of the ONE back you have. Hopefully you will live long enough to have your back be the weak link on what and how you continue. Stepping down off the virtual soapbox.

I never thought about doing it on a hammock ridge line. Hmmm, new splicing project.

    Thanks for the idea.

I know it's not the lightest gear, and it's a lot of stuff, but I use a canoe, so it's a lot like car camping, but without the other cars.

DH also makes gear loops, with our without a webbing hand loop, that might work out could be adapted for what you're after. You might even be able to convince Papa Smurf to customize for your specific need, all you have to do is ask.

That's real close to what I'm looking for.

Going to email them to see if one loop on the dog bone could be made longer to allow it to be prusiked on to the ridge line.
