Maybe go to a group hang to meet great hammock creatures and see all kinds of hammocks
Watch Shug’s YouTube videos, he has a ten (or 15) part series How to hang a hammock, how to pitch your tarp, insulation etc—very informative and entertaining

A big shout out from Denton NC

First hang on the mountain. Need an underquilt. Should do for now.

Would like to join a hang. Where to look for them is the question?

Thanks for replying, you do care!?

In case you also need a top quilt, JacksRBetter has a good deal on a TQ/UQ combo. Check their website.

Also, I wanted to see a picture of you hanging from cacti! I might be out in Tucson over Christmas, so I was hoping I could learn from your pictures how it's done!

Hi luvmehat, Welcome. Saw your title and thought I was going to get a lesson in proper hammock attachments to a cactus.
Something tells me your standard 1-2" strap is not sufficient to not damage the plant. What do you think?
We are big around here on leave no trace and not damaging our hammock supports.

The only thing tall enough are the Saguaros and their root system is not designed to be structural for that kind of sideways pull. The same problems that the Joshua Trees have when someone tries to hang off them. There have been problems in the Joshua Tree NP that has given hammocking a bad rap there.

Lol, I was kidding about cacti hanging. That's I no go around here. Just a catchy title.
    Seems like a good group.
