    Silnylon repair tape

I have some McNett Clean Clear Tape and some Gear Aid Tenacious Tape.
I'm going to try using my tarp poles on top and reading the mixed reviews on issues of rubbing the tarp, I am looking at possible solutions other that the continuous ridgeline on top if I think rubbing might be an issue..

I have set it up this way and it is much easier and faster than underneath.

Unless weather says otherwise, I like it stretched wide and high. Sorta like porch mode with a porch on both sides.
I found that the pole doesn't even touch the tarp unless the sides are lowered toward the ground.

I am not finding were it says the two tapes I have are usable on silnylon.
    Anyone have experience on that?

Don't know precisely what you're using, but Gear Aid makes a tape for silnylon. Their other tenacious tape doesn't work.

Do you know which silpoly it's made of? Some are polyurethane-coated and the older tenacious tape will stick to them. I tried to patch a Gossamer Gear pack made with silnylon and it wouldn't stick at all, and I ended up making an ugly, but effective, patch with the liquid silicone glue.

I dont. It is a WB Superfly. probably 4 years old i would say. I have had the patch on it since it was new. I doubt I could even peel it off

    It's the JRB 12′ x 10′ Universal Tarp.
It doesn't say exactly what it's made of on the JRB web site so I have started a chat, asking about it.
But it does Ridgeline seam comes sealed with McNett SilNet Silicon Seam Sealer.

I contacted JRB and here is the response "Depends on the color if it is Brown, Blue or, Red its 30D Ripstop Sil-Nylon. If it is Camouflage then its 20D Micro ripstop Polyester that is silicone coated on both sides."

I think I'll try sticking a small amount of each to a less noticed area and see what happens.

I cut small patches of the "Clean Clear" tape and the Tenacious Tape, put them on a corner of the tarp.

Looked good at first but with a little wiggling and bending, they began to come loose.

Oh well. If I feel I need something between the poles and tarp, I may just put something soft on the center of the poles.

Besides, it doesn't make contact unless I bring the sides down really low.

    Thanks.

Tent flies have had poles rubbing against them since the beginning of time.

    Rest easy.
