    Amsteel Hammock Suspension System

Just thought that I would post some pics of my completed amsteel suspension system. It consists of:
-amsteel whoopie slings to attach to the straps that wrap around the tree
-amsteel whoopie sling ridgeline so that I can adjust the amount of sag in my hammock
-amsteel fixed eye loops that larks head through the sewn channel at the end of my hammock to attach to the aluminum rings that all 3 amsteel parts attach to.

On the fixed eye loops and the fixed eye of the whoopie sling ridgeline, I used a locked brummel splice to fix the loop in place.

I am also currently using ENO Slap Strap Pro straps to attach to the tree, but I have found that there is a significant amount of "give" with these. They stretch a little more than I would like.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other straps that have less give?

    Thanks!

Nice setup. Seatbelts, polyester, or polypropylene don't have as much stretch as the ENO straps--just avoid nylon.

I have straps from Paul at AHE and seatbelts from strapworks, and polypro from Hennessy. Paul's are my preferred straps in 6 foot length.

Looks great!!! I use circular webbing, but just had my friend order the seatbelt webbing from Paul, so can't wait to try it out.

Looks nice but one suggestion. The line from the hammock to the ring looks like it's tied at the ring. Amsteel is very slick and many knots will start to creep well below the Amsteel's load rating. Best to use only splices with these lines. Don't want you hitting the ground unexpectedly.

They caught my eye...had never seen one before. How do they compare in dimensions and weight to the SMC rings????? The Omega website gives no specs except strength.

Does anybody use seat belt webbing from a salvage yard? I suppose a person would have to inspect it for damage, but I bet a salvage yard would give them away.

They are heavier and IIRC, the diameter of the hole is a bit smaller.
