VIDEO: Kinsman Pond Camping - White Mountains of New Hampshire

I did an overnight this past Monday at the Kinsman Pond campsite in the White Mountains. A short 4.2 mile hike on Day 1 and another 11 miles on Day 2. Very hot and very humid which left me beat after the short first day. I had the campsite to myself though I heard a couple AT hikers come in around 8 PM. By that point I was already in my hammock.

On Day 2 I followed the Kinsman Ridge Trail over North and South Kinsman, learning that I had never actually reached South Kinsman before. I though it was my third time but it turned to be my first! A bit of a shock but it made for some funny footage. The rest of the miles on the Kinsman Ridge Trail were rocky and tough but there were great water features as well. Met a nice older AT hiker as well who was very inspiring. I hope you enjoy the video! (there's a bit of profanity)

Nice video RS! Cool running across that cemetery with all the old headstones. I've got a HG 40 deg & a 20 deg. Phoenix & they're great under quilts.

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks for watching! I was happy with the 30 degree Phoenix. The quilt I used on top was a little small - it would have been better if I converted it to a TQ with an actual footbox. It kept sliding off my socks and my feet would get cold.

Even though it only got down to 60 degrees during the night with that wind I was getting cool by the morning. But my underside was warm so the UQ did its job.
