Video: Circle of Solitude - Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks

    https://youtu.be/m0tXxfu-iYU

Here's a video I made during the Circle of Solitude at the end of July. As I did it, it's approximately an 85 mile loop that goes through the Inyo National Forest, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks. It contains pieces of the Rae Lakes Loop, the John Muir Trail, and the High Sierra Trail, connecting them with a trip over the seldom visited Colby Pass. Some amazing terrain all the way through!

To make it even more fun, I took my hammock. While it limited me somewhat as to where I could camp, it made it oh so much better each night!!!

This is the first time I've ever tried to make a video during a trip. The production quality is pretty low, but that helps to keep the adventure quality high.

    Basic Itinerary -
Day 1 - Onion Valley to Flower Lake (short day, just to get started)
Day 2 - Flower Lake to East Lake
Day 3 - East Lake to a little below Sphinx Creek on Avalanche Pass
Day 4 - Sphinx Creek to Cloud Canyon (Whaleback)
Day 5 - Cloud Canyon to above Junction Meadow (HST)
Day 6 - Above Junction Meadow to Tyndall Creek
Day 7 - Tyndall Creek to Charlotte Lake
Day 8 - Charlotte Creek back to the car

Hope you enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions about the route.

    Stupendous scenery, great walk!

Did you spend a little time beforehand acclimating to the altitude? I've gone from sea level to 10K' in a very short period of time and it's quite a shock!

I live in Las Vegas, at about 2500'. Luckily we have some mountains nearby where I can drive to trailheads between 8 - 9000'. I try to get up there a couple times per week through the summer. Makes a huge difference!
