It wasn't until this year. I guess it was just easier for them to do it this way. I still prefer the old way of exchanging the old suspension or continuous loop completely with the buckle suspension. But since the attached loop got shorter, it's now necessary to swap that out for a longer loop, if you want to do it that way.

What kind of tree strap was that? A normal polyester one?

I have actually had less problems with the Beetle Buckles than with any other buckles, because their slots are narrow and the straps have a harder time twisting.
