    Why the wbbb xlc?

In the market for a new hammock. Had my old hammock for a while and forgot how many options there were. So my question is what sets the blackbird apart. Looking at the xlc in particular. Not looking for hate on other hammocks just wondering why people choose warbonnet. Thanks for the feed back.

I don't have an XLC (a 10' hammock is plenty for me), but my Warbonnet Blackbird is a favorite of mine; I own or have tried a large number of gathered end hammocks.

The distinctive feature for me of the Blackbird is the footbox. I get in that thing and I just immediately lock into a comfortable, flat lay. And the 'shelf' for storing items has the advantages of a) not dangling in your face like a ridgeline organizer and b) not being above your head where you can't see what's in it like a peak shelf.

Warbonnet has been making hammocks for a long time and all I have never had a problem with any of the stuff I have bought from Brandon over the years ( hammocks, tarp, UQ ect ). I have had to send stuff back to be repaired to fix a zipper that I messed up and it was fixed in about a week.

I have both the BB, XLC and the Eldorado ( the Eldorado is a XLC without the shelf ). My wife is a fan of the RR bridge hammocks.

I am 6dt 2 and 290+lbs and have been using Warbonnet hammocks for 10 years now.

The XLC is about a foot longer than the BB and is designed for taller people.

I found that I prefer the regular BB over the XLC
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I got the WBBB XLC after seeing reviews, specifically from taller/larger people on how comfortable it is (I'm 6'1, 220). I have not been disappointed. The footbox has been fantastic for a flat lay, and I love the shelf for storage. I may, at some point, look to get a lighter hammock for back-packing, but for now, I've been very happy with the XLC.

I never tried the XLC but have no reason to. I liked my first regular so much I bought another in a lighter material. Just perfect.

I like that when staked out the bugnet is well off my face.
Also it is my favorite hammock for sitting in sideways (which I do a lot especially solo camping) as the bugnet provides a nice backrest when tied back. Better than any other gathered end hammock that I own.

It is very comfortable. I can not overstate the simplicity and greatness of the shelf. It's great in spring/Fall when you go to sleep and it's still a little warm for a topquilt. Just store it in the shelf. When you get a little cool later, just reach over and slide the quilt out of the shelf and your good to go. I have a topless hammock that I use in the Winter, but I use my XLC most often.

My first hammock was an XLC, and it really has the best features of any gathered end hammock I've tried...that shelf...I get irritated in other GE hammocks because they don't have it. It's true you can get comparable setup from Dutch with add-ons, but the man loves modularity, for better or worse, and unfortunately that means you end up paying quite a bit extra and it ends up being quite a bit heavier. Also, Warbonnet's service is good and the build is good. It's well designed and well made stuff.

Minor opinion point here, I also appreciate that rather than getting their fingers in other, related pies they stay in their lane and focus on basically doing one thing well.

I’m “height challenged” so the regular BlackBird is plenty for me. It’s seem to have the best ratio of comfort vs small hanging space. So it’s my Go-To hammock when I don’t know about the skeeter situation or the availability of properly hanging trees. That is, it’s comfortable in the tightest hanging spaces.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Yeah the 10' is nice. When I switch back to it from a longer hammock for the buggy season, I always think "wow this is a big tarp"
