    Lightest summer topquilt

I've seen a few posts on this, but they're getting pretty old. What's the lightest top quilt option for summer when lows never go below 50F? Is it the Loco Libre Operator? I don't sew, nor do I have a sewing machine, so not looking for DIY solutions.

I was going to suggest HG’s Premium Phoenix, but it’s more expensive and its 40 degree model is 3 oz. heavier than the Operator. I have been looking at buying the Phoenix for a while, so thanks for bringing the Operator to my attention.

I'm always wondering about this too. I have a 40° HG Burrow but there's no way I can use that on warmer trips.

For example, coming up the weather will be 82/61. So if I'm hiking all day and going to sleep at 9PM, it's still 75° or so. Maybe touching that 61° low for a couple hours at best. Add in a little humidity and I don't want that down anywhere near me.

I've swapped my TQ for a Coolmax liner before, but I have to be careful that there won't be a "cool" night (50°) mixed in.

Yeah, right now I just have an REI Magma 30 quilt, which I love, but it's overkill right now. It mostly just stays beside me, occasionally pulling it over my shoulders. I'm getting ready to do the Alleghany Front Trail this weekend, and surprisingly it's supposed to get into the 50s at night. For now I'll take my Magma, but it would be nice to bring something lighter and more packable.

Yep, Timmermade Coati is pretty darn light, about 8-9oz depending on size/options. It's sewn-thru, but honestly for such a warm weather quilt this is fine because box baffles aren't doing much for you anyway.

I have one on order... current queue is 14 weeks, so it's for next year.

One could also consider an Elephant’s Foot design, which is essentially a partial length TQ that relies on a puffy jacket for top insulation:

Interesting. I hadn't heard of this company. Thanks for the info! 9.3oz for 72" long wide option. Not bad.

The JackRBetter Ultralight Shenandoah Quilt (40F) is about 11.5 ounces. https://www.jacksrbetter.com/product...oah-quilt-40f/
I have one and it is my go-to for Summer.
