I have the 11' MiniFly in silpoly and it is a top tarp.

Thanks, Shug! I actually watched your video several times after Countrybois recommended the Minifly. I appreciated the comp between it and the Thunderfly. Gave me a great visual, and I trust your videos above all the rest.

With a 12' tarp, you'll lose some side coverage as you'll need to hang the tarp a bit higher to clear the hammock suspension. If you have a wide tarp, it won't be that big of a deal but with a narrower tape like the Minifly, your sides will be a bit more exposed. With an 11' tarp, you can really hang it low, close to the hammock ridgeline to help with getting better side protection.

    Good insight, FLTurtle. Thanks.

One is that it has a silpoly (less water absorption) option and the other are the split beak doors on the end to provide just a little extra weather protection. Wish it came in a 12-footer, but those doors mitigate that limitation.

You can use the custom tarp builder option on the Warbonnet site to get a mini fly that’s long enough.

I have a silpoly mountainfly, which seems like a perfect tarp to me.

Thanks. After doing some research and listening to some of the advice on this forum, I decided that I shouldn’t be so nervous about an 11’ tarp. I wound up ordering an 11’ Thunderfly. Would’ve gone with the Minifly, but WB’s inventory was pretty much depleted.

Good choice...I dig mine, it's my main tarp. It rained pretty hard before sun up. Wasn't windy, but I had it cinched pretty low just in case. Stayed completely dry.

Looks good, FLTurtle. Got a trip planned to hike the Standing Indian loop in early October. Can’t wait until I get it and then out into the woods.
