    No more Raven?

Just noticed the Raven isn't currently offered on Dream Hammocks website. Has it gone the way of the dodo bird?

Dunno but they've also stopped making any hammocks in MTN XL 1.2. Been a few failures apparently. Hopefully just a bad batch because a Darien in it was going to be my next purchase.

Raven - We've discontinued the Raven hammock for now to concentrate our time on a couple of our more popular models. The Raven was one of the first truly symmetrical lay hammocks having a unique shaped net that flexed to accomodate pretty much any laying position. We can get near the same lay with a symmetrical Sparrow now and so the Raven is not nearly as popular as it once was. We can still build the Raven as a custom order, but most folks are now going to the Sparrow instead.

1.2oz MTN - We had a few hammocks fail that we couldn't easily explain so to be cautious, we're holding up on this until we get to the bottom of it. We're currently talking with RBTR and I'm personally sleeping in 1.2 Darien hammocks every night as well as jumping around in one several times a day. So far I haven't been able to re-create any sort of problem. I'm guessing it's nothing and we just had a few wierd things going on. If that's the case indeed, we'll bring it back as a fabric option soon.

I have 2 Dariens in MTN XL 1.2 so I'll be following. One of mine (#7111) has been used perhaps 50-60 nights with no problems.

Yea, I think this is just a fluke. I've been testing and hanging in several hammocks here with no issues at all.

I doubt the issue would be with the fabric...I have 1.2MTN in my last bridge build, and after many hangs there are also no issues with it; bridges are significantly higher stress and my pattern is...well...hardly the most refined. Kudos to Randy et al for taking the precaution and making sure rather than live testing their fabrics with real customers.

That's a bummer about the Raven. It's still probably my favorite all-around hammock. What made it so special was that it offered all of the features & flexibility of the high-end hammocks, but at a very attractive price. That said, I know the Raven's price jumped considerably over the past couple of years. So it's much harder to make a case for the Raven when the base Sparrow is only $25-$30 more. When I purchased my Raven, it was only $115.
