Hidden Pond, Ocala National Forest August 27-29

It's time to take a hike and get in a hangout in the Florida Heat! At least 2 of us John and Myself will be cooling off at Hidden Pond the last weekend in August. We will park at Pat's Landing and hopefully beat the afternoon rain to camp! If you're intersted let me know when we can expect you at camp and where you're parking.

Me too. Lessons learned from camping last weekend: 1. No sleeping bag or under quilt needed. Will carry small sheet instead. 2. Will carry two water bottles for the hike in. 3. Definitely will be bringing a bathing suit. 4. Bring extra tarp, been raining pretty much everyday, very heavy at times (Tuesday we got 4” and Wednesday we got 2”).

K_Man: do you need information on where to park or directions into the site? If so let me know. I would hope that I get there by noon, but it will be hard since its about a 4 hour drive from where I live.

I'm good, only live about 25 miles away from Hidden Pond. If you have the time before or after I would like to show you a good place for free group camping. Less than a two mile hike/bike in or 4 mile paddle. Has a picnic table, fire pit and a well pump. https://www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreat...awaha-prairie/

Let's talk about this place when we're at Hidden Pond. Looks interesting. I wish the map on St John's Water Management Dishtrict had mileage on it so we could gage the time to hike to the one campsite!

When you say a 4 mile paddle are you coming at it from Rays landing and going up stream? What kind of location markers are you using to know that you're in the area?

We will be there. Ticks are going to be real as well as mosquitoes. So prepare for that.
