Has anyone patched a silnylon tarp before?

Temporary: Shoe Goo works. Flexible, long lasting, cheap. Good for seam sealing as well.

If your tear is in a spot that carries strain from a tie out towards the center of your tarp patching is more problematic.

For a real repair sewing a patch and seam sealing works. Caveats as to size and skill. I have mine sewn on top of the tarp, glued then stiched

If you pull drum head tight a repair will not last permanently.

I might still have that tarp, got lots of use out of it before I retired it. After a quarter sized hole and patch.

I have no idea if this works, but I think it will.

I have patched many sails with medlar tape (tenacious tape would work I think) on one side and applying a thin layer of CA glue (I like Zap a Gap) on the other. No much, just enough to fill in the minor gaps and hold it all together.

The result is very flexible and has not failed me yet. I've even removed the tape and just used the glue on smaller tears.

Like I said, I have no idea if this would work with a sil-tarp, but I don't think there is much downside if it does not work. The glue is nearly invisible.

It’s on the door of my superfly so it’s not going to take much tension from the ridgeline

Do you have to use any other adhesive or just this patch ?

Just the patch, peel and stick. Now, if it's a stress area I'd look for a sew on solution but you said its for a tarp door so it should work fine. How big is the tear?

If it is just some pin hole size holes then just try coating pin holes with some silicone. In a non stress area I have also used some scrap sylnylon to use as a patch that I cut a little bigger than the area to be repaired and coated area with silicone, apply patch and cover patch with more silicone.

It’s about a 3” slit type of tear
