Would you please elaborate on the Wooki string venting endeavor?
Sure. Vent may be the wrong terminology, but I took one of the strings I use as a drip line on my hammock suspension and hung it from my foot-end CL and tied it off to the biner on the wooki elastic band so that the wooki hung down much more loosely rather than right up against the hammock. It took a bit of trial and error (so way better to figure it out ahead of time rather than when 8 did the experiment), but I found about 4-5" of line meant that the wooki was close, but not right up against the hammock when I was in it which cooled me off about the right amount for comfort. I'd guess it was around 60 degrees most of the night.

I admittedly seem to be very finicky about underquilt warmth and definitely found myself too warm most of the trip. I couldn't sleep without the wooki even with my 20* TQ because I was too cold and with the 20* wooki on normally and no TQ at all I was too warm to sleep even putting limbs on un-insulated fabric. I should probably dye my hair blonde and change my name to goldilocks, but a little piece of string put me to sleep within minutes.

Very nice trip report. I have a collection of topo images and satellite images of the B-WC wilderness as pre-planning for foray. Mostly planned around circumnavigating Castle Peak and a hike up the peak. I have a tradition of trying to bag a new peak for a birthday present. It doesn't look like it will be this year though. Your trip gave me a good look at what the area looks like. It reminds me of the Eagle Cap Wilderness in NW Oregon.

I'm looking forward to the trip report when you do that one, I heard great things about the chamberlain and boulder chain basins. Funny you mention Eagle Cap as we had the trip originally planned for there and changed it up somewhat last minute after it looked like that area was getting a lot of forest fire smoke. Not sure how it ended up comparatively for the week we were out there. We're thinking our next big trip will be Wind River Range next year. Time to start planning that.

Ah, yes. The Winds. The glory days when you couldn't keep this dog on the porch. Haystack and Wolf's Head.

Sounds like an amazing trip! Some of that sounded like Type II fun, which will only get fonder with time.
