Mosquito netting

Hi, Just ordered a One Wind hammock with a full mosquito netting & noticed that it's one where you have to get in & out of the bottom of the netting. I have never used one before so am curious - apparently you have to stand up inside the netting between the netting & hammock, get into your hammock & then reach down underneath & cinch up the draw strings to close the opening.
I assume that each time you need a pee, you have to open up the cinch strings, get out & do your business (something that I sometimes have to do two or three times a night)

What can I do to reduce the times I have to get out of the netting? Apart from the obvious not drinking as much or peeing through the mesh

What do you guys do?

You don't have to un-cinch/re-cinch the netting each time you get in & out. It's shock cord, so it will stretch. Just pull the netting up, so the hole is right by the edge of your hammock, stick your legs out, and lift it over your head to get out. Reverse the process to get back in. Once you do it a couple times, it'll become second-nature.

What he said, and I never cinch it up all the way. My netting stays w/ a bottom opening about 2' across. The hammock acts as a plug for the hole, just pull it up, stick your feet out, etc.

One thing I’ve noticed, it is far faster and easier to get in or out of a fronkey bugnet hammock than it is a zipper based one. No contest.

I've used both integrated and Fronkey style (SLD tree runner with separate net) and there's a bit of a learning curve for getting in and out. (Also with deploying the net and getting UQ squared away, but that's another discussion.)

I was also worried about bugs entering the bottom of the net but as rweb82 and LowTech pointed out it doesn't have to be tight as a crab's sphincter to keep them out. Seems their little brains are hard-wired for a top or side approach and they don't 'think' about going thru the bottom.

And, if you're not packing UL you can even put an UQP on the outside of the netting, or even just your UQ.

A trick I recently learned from Derek Hanson and started using is place the UQ outside of the fronkey bug net. It makes putting the UQ on easier and acts as a bug barrier / plug for the bug net. It is a little trickier to get out of, but after the first couple attempts, it is not much of a challenge. Also, with the UQ covering the opening, no need to cinch the bug net opening at all.

Other than the fact that it puts some tension into the sides of the netting when you're in it.
Just last night I was adjusting the amount the opening was open to get a decent tension on the sides. No floppy bug net here.

I have one and I also have another brand, Chill Gorilla with a side zipper from top to bottom and between the 2, I prefer the bottom exit when I don't have my gear hammock - which is never ;-).

Like rweb82 said, it will become second nature to get out and back in - to do your first nature
