    Hey Guys,
Wow, what an interesting and entertaining FIRST hang for me. Enjoyed meeting new folks and making new friends. Appreciate all of the insight, suggestions and recommendations as I start to build, or should I say invest in my newest hobby of hanging. Oh boy!

Here is a video, admittedly a bit long for such a short weekend. Apologies in advance but my photography and editing skills are on par with my hammock skill. Poor but growing.

Hope to join and hang with ya’ll again soon.

Bears at a group hang? First time I've heard of that. We had a couple of raccoons at a group hang, but they can't sever your jugular.

Glad everyone had a good time!

I spoke to the lady at the desk. Plan to call today and try to speak to a ranger.

SilvrSurfr, our young bear has gotten used to eating excess food that campers have dumped at their campsites, along a loop trail. And our young bear looks for any food in bags and packs, during the night while we sleep.
My pack and contents were tied in a trash bag and tied to miniature food cooler—all tied with amsteel to my hammock suspension.
When the bear pulled trash bag and cooler, it stopped at my tree. That was as far as amsteel would go. I woke up and bear left me and went to creek to find TomTom’s cooler-full of good food!

I never saw the bear, and good for me, cause sometimes when rising quickly out of my hammock, I experience extreme vertigo.
Dizzy enough to fall down if not holding hammock ridgeline.

At first I was convinced that if I hit the young bear with my oak hiking staff, that it would run away and gain fear of people.
Our bear is hungry and growing. It’s habits of feeding are formed—and our bear will be shot or captured and relocated—probably shot by a ranger or camper.

Leave no trace and bear resistant food storage are the way to go.
Bear Barrels, Bear Bags will have to be an enforced rule to make John Rock safer for man and beast.

Sad but true. The pandemic has brought tens of thousands more people into the woods to enjoy them which is a great thing, but it's up to us grizzled woodspeople to teach them respect for the woods and the creatures who make it their home. It's unfortunate that this bear will pay the price for the ignorance or carelessness of others.
