Thumbs up I've tested waterproofness of my Hammock Gear The Journey 11' tarp in real life conditions

I've successfully tested waterproofness of my Hammock Gear The Journey 11' tarp. About 100 mm of rainfall during a night with a tarp in porch mode. I was dry and cozy. What you see on the video lasted the entire night. By the next morning dozens of buildings and a highway nearby have been flooded. Hammock Gear The Journey 11' tarp worked perfect.

I seam sealed the ridgeline and panel pull-outs.

IMO one of the big advantages of a hammock - being off the ground. Can you imagine if you had pitched a tent there?

I can't imagine being in a tent during such rainfall. Every relatively horizontal place looked like a small lake and there were small rivers everywhere on the slope. And I assume being off the ground is much safer in case of nearby lightning strike, for sure water on the ground is much more better electrical conductor than a dry hammock (I understand it doesn't eliminate the risk, but I believe hammock reduces the risk significantly).

    Thank you Harry,

I'm happy to be HG customer. Everything work perfect, but this rain was a real test. With HG tarp and quilts I was in much better conditions (totally dry and cozy) than many people from nearby communities down to the hill. It was later in the morning when I read news reports. People had to leave their flooded homes in a hurry while I was making this video at 3:30 am.
