I do this, but I wait until late winter / early spring when NY pothole season is at its peak... maximum efficiency!

Add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse water to help remove odors.

I would assume hand washing with a light detergent should work well.

I support the bathtub people. And silk liners for trips you know will get funky. Easier to wash the silk liner than the hammock itself.

I agree leave everything together and wash it in a bucket or your tub. I wash all my outdoor equipment in my tub

The old 5-gal bucket. My (almost) nightly process for washing cycling clothes...depending how nasty I am that particular day.

Recently, I threw my 1.6 hammock in a HG cloth bag used for storing quilts loosely...tied off the bag tight...and threw it all in the washer. Works like a charm!

We have a top loading washer, but it is a newer one that does not have the center agitator in it. Kind of like a front load washer but top load.

Anyway, I wash all my hammocks in the washer on the gentle cycle with an extra rinse, then hang dry.
